A1 Motorway in Poland: Toll, Fees, and Payment Options

The A1 is one of Poland's most important north-south motorways and is especially popular with travellers heading from the Baltic coast towards the south, for example to Katowice or the Czech Republic. Unlike many other Polish expressways, part of the A1 is privately operated and therefore subject to tolls.

Route of the A1 through Poland

The A1 (Autostrada A1) stretches over approximately 565 kilometres, starting in Danzig (Gdańsk) on the Baltic Sea and ending at the border crossing in Gorzyczki, near Ostrava in the Czech Republic. It passes through the following cities:

  • Danzig (Gdańsk)
  • Thorn (Toruń)
  • Lodz (Łódź)
  • Tschenstochau (Częstochowa)
  • Gleiwitz (Gliwice)
  • Border crossing at Gorzyczki

The central section between Rusocin and Nowa Wieś, around 152 kilometres long, is operated by the private company GTC (AmberOne) and is subject to tolls.

Vehicles Required to Pay Tolls

Tolls apply on the privately managed section between Rusocin and Nowa Wieś for cars, motorcycles, motorhomes under 3.5 tonnes and vehicles with trailers.
